Who we are

ShockART is a New York–based podcast exploring the intersection of art, business, cultural power, and market influence. Founded and hosted by Tekla Meladze — painter, entrepreneur, and Art Business graduate student at Sotheby’s Institute of Art — the podcast examines how art does more than reflect society: it shapes economies, politics, and global narratives.

ShockART is not simply an art talk platform. It is a strategic conversation space where artists, collectors, curators, auction professionals, and cultural leaders discuss the forces that define value — both aesthetic and financial. Each episode investigates how cultural capital is built, how markets respond to artistic disruption, and how power circulates within the global art ecosystem.

What makes ShockART unique is its dual perspective. As both a practicing painter and an art business scholar, Tekla bridges creative vision with market intelligence. The podcast moves beyond studio practice into auction houses, institutions, financial districts, and international art fairs — decoding the systems behind visibility, prestige, and influence.

ShockART asks the questions others hesitate to ask:

  • Who controls cultural value?

  • How does controversy impact market pricing?

  • Can art remain independent in a market-driven world?

  • Where do politics and aesthetics collide?

With a tone that is analytical yet bold, refined yet provocative, ShockART is designed for those who understand that art is not only emotional — it is structural, economic, and geopolitical.

ShockART is where culture meets capital.
